It's safe to say that first grade is off to a GREAT start! Our class is full of some of the most amazing kids! We are going to have so much fun together! Here we are putting together our class puzzle. Each friend got to decorate a puzzle piece and then we had to work as a class to put it together. It was a pretty challenging puzzle!

We thought it might be smart to find the edge pieces first.

We learned that every single person in our class is important. If even one piece was gone, the puzzle wouldn't be complete. We need every piece just like we need every friend in our class. You might notice there is one black piece - we had a friend that ended up going to a different school who was initially going to be in our class but that is no problem at all because there will be a piece available in case anyone moves into the neighborhood.

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun we have had the last two days. My hope for this blog is that it is a conversation starter for you and your first grader. If you ever ask your child "So what did you do at school today?" and you get a blank stare or an "I don't know" then this is will a great resource for you. Just check what we are up to on the blog and you will be able to ask more specific questions to spark some memories from the school day because let me tell you, we do a LOT of stuff all day long. I hope you enjoy it and I will do my best to update this blog several times per week. Some weeks do end up being a little crazy and I might only get one post up but hopefully that won't happen too often. Also "like" our class on Facebook to get some additional updates! Just search for "Mrs. Smith's 1st grade class."
